Anassa: Impressive renovation for the iconic hotel of Thanos Hotels and Resorts in Cyprus | PHOTO

Anassa, the flagship hotel of the Cypriot Thanos Hotels & Resorts group and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, welcomes the new season renewed and inaugurates a new chapter. The “Queen of the Mediterranean” is reintroduced through an extensive, gradual renovation of all resort areas, redefining the hospitality experience while remaining true to its timeless character. With an investment already exceeding 10 million euros, Anassa confirms its title as the top seaside resort in Cyprus.

Since opening its doors in 1998, Anassa has attracted loyal and regular visitors. With respect to Mediterranean architecture, crystal clear waters and vast gardens with olive groves and bougainvillea, the resort embodies absolute elegance through every detail and timeless harmony with the environment. Today, this new phase of development comes to enhance its unique identity, introducing a more refined aesthetic approach and an upgraded experience of stay, which naturally coexists with the landscape of Akamas Peninsula — a place that remains untouched, authentic and far from the massiveness of other tourist destinations.

The first phase of the renovation was revealed just before the start of the summer season, on 27 March 2026. The focus is on the complete redesign of 76 hospitality spaces – from junior suites and above – as well as all the traditional white villas. In collaboration with the internationally renowned design firm Yabu Pushelberg, the new suites and villas have a fresh aesthetic: soft color palettes and natural textures are combined with refined fabrics and decorative elements that reflect the light and the aura of the landscape. Meanwhile, all the bathrooms in the suites are being fully renovated. The upgrade also includes the iconic central veranda with panoramic views of the coastline, which is getting new outdoor furniture that enhances the comfort and atmosphere.

In the culinary field, Anassa is entering a new, more experiential era, with the launch of Grill at Amphora, a sophisticated à la carte dinner concept that focuses on the authenticity of the raw material. Fresh, wild-caught fish from the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, exquisite cuts of meat and seasonal products make up a menu that highlights natural flavors, in a high-end aesthetic environment. At the same time, the resort’s overall culinary identity remains deeply rooted in the values that established it. Helios continues to express the Franco-Mediterranean fine dining approach, Basiliko moves between Asian and Mediterranean influences, while Pelagos maintains the unpretentious character of Cypriot cuisine by the pool.

Under the guidance of the Michaelides family, which has been active in the hotel industry for more than 50 years, Anassa reflects a deep commitment to tradition and history. As Thanos Micheilidis, CEO of Thanos Hotels and Resorts, notes: “Anassa has always been the most authentic expression of our philosophy – a meaningful approach, based on authenticity and not on fleeting trends, with seasonality and Mediterranean wellness at the core of its identity”.

With sunshine all year round, direct access to one of the most unspoiled coastlines in Cyprus, and facilities that allow different generations to coexist comfortably, Anassa, with its renovation, continues to honor its heritage while preparing for a new exciting chapter.
